Hi Guys, I'm really enjoying the look of this new site. Congrats on the facelift! I have found a problem (I think) with the check feed option. I did a feed check on my podcast "In Spirit with Ruth Phillips" We are up to Episode 16, and after a feed check it's still displaying Episode 14 as the latest episode. Cheers, James |

Hi James, thanks for your comments on the new look and thanks also for reporting the bug - I'm still not sure exactly why it's not updating (as many other feeds are) - but we'll look into it and get back to you asap. Cheers! John |

ok problem is now all fixed the issue arose due to the check/update function attempting to reference everything by a GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) - however your feed doesn't include a GUID tag for each episode so as a result wasn't updating properly. Whilst we now have a workaround in place for this - many aggregators may not so I would suggest including this in future episodes. The easiest way to come up with an string for it is often to use the url of the enclosure file. More information can be found at: http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/rss/rss.html#ltguidgtSubelementOfLtitemgt Best of luck with your podcast John |

Hey John, Just uploaded a new feed with GUID included. I went back and added it to all episodes, which I now think was the wrong thing to do beause now it's picked up all episodes as new. Any suggestions? James |

Hi James, our system has recognized them as being different episodes again as they now have a unique guid (which was different to our default of the filename) - I have flushed your feed and all episodes are in there correctly now thanks for the feedback John |

Hi John, This is not a problem, just checking in with you on this feature. I put GUID tags in, and then my RSS maker which doesn't handle GUID took it out again when I updated the last episode. I noticed the latest episode of the podcast (#19) updated without GUID. Is this because they were there, and then gone, or did you update the site to accommodate feeds without GUID? Just curious, and closing the loop for the readers. Still loving this site. James P.S. I would love a bumper to play to promote your site on our shows. |

Hi James, yeah we figured that your case would not be an isolated one so managed to create a fix to allow podcasts without a GUID for episodes in their feeds to be catered for. As such - if you do then change your feed (after we've indexed it) and include a GUID for the episode it will treat it as a new one and re-index it - so best to just leave things the way that works best/easiest for you when creating your feed(s) cheers John p.s. I'll see if we can get a bumper to you - we need to record one! p.p.s. thanks for the mention on your blog |

Hey John, No problems about the plug. There's another one coming your way in my new podcast "Podcasters' Emporium" which is a mixed-bag of podcaster information, podsafe music, new podcaster interviews, show plugs etc. You're in Episode 1, and I'm about to register it in the directory. It's good to close the loop on this issue, and thanks for working a solution so quickly. Cheers, James www.podcastersemporium.com www.inspiritpodcast.com |
