Hear Barbara Tremitiere, a pioneer in special needs adoption, and a mentor to both hosts Chester and Pat, speak about the importance of preparing families before their children arrive, supporting families after their children are placed, and the role that the parent's unconditional commitment plays in the success of each and every adoption. Dr. Tremitiere was involved in over 2000 placements of special needs and older children throughout her career as an agency director.

A great discussion this evening with Rudy Estrada about the special needs of the LGBT youth in care and also conversation encouraging LGBT individuals to apply to be parents to teens in care. LGBT parent Mary Keane was also a guest, and LGBT mom Shawnese Parker contributed to the conversation as a caller.

Today's Teen Talk with Anni Keane introduces special guest Jarel Melendez, 21, who runs a special Circle of Youth support group for New York City's Children's Services for LGBTQ youth in the City's care. Jarel also works with youth aging out of the foster care system for Lawyers for Children. Jarel was adopted at age 18 by his grandmother and he is a strong advocate for older teen adoption.
