Every now and then, we are able to listen to some lovely ghazals in Awaaz Anjane, but this is the first time we have a Ghulam Ali gem. Des Raj Kashyap from North Carolina treats us to the beautiful Yeh Dil Yeh Pagal in his very melodious voice. Then Shantha Senadheera brings romance to the episode through Mahendra Kapoor's Tum Agar Saath Dene Ka - the masterpiece song from Humraaz. We also introduce Hemant Garg from Dayton, Ohio - a Kishore Kumar fan singing Tum Bhi Chalo. Hemant also enjoys organizing concerts and shares with us his behind-the-scene experiences. As Hemant informs, the latest concert coming to Dayton is Udit Narayan and Aditya Narayan on May 4, 2008. For tickets, contact here. Happy Listening!

Our guest this week is Vani Babbar, the young, promising singer from Delhi, India. Being the daughter of the famous ghazal exponent Satish Babbar, Vani's forte is definitely ghazal, as she demonstrates through the beautiful composition Aashiyana. But along with her rigorous training in the classical traditions of music, Vani enjoys singing all the genres, including rhymes for children. She provides us a taste of her versatility through another ghazal which she sings during our interview and a Punjabi number from her album Raat Ki Kahani. Fond of public performances, she performed live last year in Kabul in a program organized by the Indian Embassy. Her playback singing debut takes place in the 3D animation film Icy N Spicy, due to be released next month. Listen to a clip from the title track of the film and Vani's free-wheeling interview.
