People identify themselves by what they have, and advertisers don’t help either: “You are what you drive. You are what you buy. You are what you wear, the clothes, the perfume, the diamonds, the bling.” As Christians, however, in this media rich, advertising-bombarded, consumer-driven society, where do we draw our identities from?
It's important for us to understand that we are not supposed to draw our identities from the world because the world is passing away, but God has given us something better to draw our identiy from, and that is our baptism into Christ Jesus. Here are two ideas as to how our identity comes to us through our baptism into Christ Jesus and it begins in our uniting with Christ in His death and Resurrection.
