This episode goes "Pop"! You may not agree that every tune is of the pop genre, but then who ever said that assigning genres is a no brainer. For this show I picked tunes that are designated "pop" by the sources of the tunes, i.e. by the Podsafe Music Network and IODA's promonet.
On the PMN I found:
On IODA's promonet, I came across:
The outro is by Brett Low.
The format is our usual 30 minute workout followed by a sprint session featuring Jo De La Rosa's tune "U Can't Control Me" at 184 BPM.

On this show I'm bringing something old and something new to the J-TIP. "The old" is a return back to our usual format of two segments: the first is 30 minutes with warm-up, full workout, and cool-down sessions, and the second is a 15 minute sprint segment that peaks with a 5 minute track running at 184 BPM and winds down with a walk home.
"The new" is the dominant genre: world. For the sake of this episode, world includes music from different countries that reflect the native music of those countries as well as tunes with distinct ethnic flavors that are produced in non-native countries.
From Brazil: Seu Jorge.
From Portugal: Sara Tavares.
From Morocco (now in the Netherlands): Kamal Hors.
From Barcelona, Spain: Cineplexx.
From Jamaica, Greater Antilles: Louinel Jean/Jproject.
From South Africa: African Cream Kids.
From Tennesee: Al Phlipp and The Woo Team.
From Portland, Oregon: Dykeritz.
From Austin, Texas: Hedda Layne and Brett Low.
From Tokyo: Nasca.
As always, I advise runners to be careful not to exceed their maximum heart rate, especially on the sprint tune.
I welcome feedback about the new genre and other input. Please send your comments to comments at jogtunes.com.

In response to listener requests, this episode is a single-range, single-genre BPM workout. All of the tracks are rock tunes in the 150 to 159 BPM range. Feel free to use it alone, in tandem with sessions in other ranges, or as a part of a BPM sequenced workout of your own design. I'm eager to learn whether this format is helpful to paced exercisers. Please send your comments to comments at jogtunes.com.
All of the tracks are encores of tunes I've enjoyed playing and running to in the past.

With this 45 minute episode, I introduce the concept of fartlek training. A Swedish word, because the idea was originated by a Swedish coach, Gösta Holmér, fartlek is a form of interval training where workout paces are varied in an informal manner. It frequently involves short bursts of speed inserted between more relaxed paces.
Most fartlek training sessions are determined by runners or their coaches. While this podcast episode obviously presents a fixed sequence, listeners are invited to go to jogtunes.com to create their own music-paced fartlek sessions from label and indie music in our Tunes List.
Casual runners are cautioned to wear a pulse monitor for this workout and to not exceed 60% of your maximum heart rate. It you have any doubts about your ability to tolerate rapid paces, please work out at slower paces during the speed bursts.
The featured group in this show is Bell Hollow from New York. They provide 3 tunes at BPMs of 121, 130, and 142.
The Autumns make an encore appearance with "Glass Jaw" at 156.
The other artists in this show are:
The 190 BPM speed bursts are from "Five Train" by Sky Cries Mary and the 200 BPM segments are from "Next Time Around" by Asymmetry.
Indoor cyclists can take the JTIP and this fartlek episode for a spin. You can get some hints on cycling to the beat on the Bike Page of JogTunes.com. If you like other fitness modes such as elliptical trainers, stairsteppers, minitrampolines, and aquarunning, check out our Gym/Aqua page

It's reggae time on the JTIP. Five of the 12 tunes in this episode are of that genre. We hope you enjoy it.
We return to the 30 + 15 minute format with a sprint tune running at 177 BPM in the 2nd segment by the Dub Station and Shaka Black.
